VBC Wednesday Night Pie Rides

By: Henry HVancouver Bicycle Club (VBC) members zip around the edges of Vancouver. Starting from Canada Place we climb to Prospect Point in Stanley Park, then along Beach to Science World, across to Kits, and out to UBC and back home along the bike routes of Kits. A fast, but friendly ride with several stops to collect everyone. The distance traveled is about 20 to 50 km, depending on how far you ride. Helmets are required on all VBC rides and tours.

Participants bring their bikes and we show them how to do a basic inspection to make sure it’s in good running order. They learn how to clean and oil their bike, check their brakes and gears, and a few other tricks to make their riding experience more enjoyable. We cover fixing the dreaded flat tire (not really such a big deal after all), and help participants decide when it's a good idea to take their bike to the shop. $45 for HUB members/$50 [more...]

AIDS ride for Africa

By: CAP AIDSOrganized by the Canada Africa Partnership on AIDS (CAP/AIDS), the AIDS Ride for Africa (previously Bike2CAPAIDS) is an annual fundraising bike-a-thon in support of local grassroots projects aimed at overcoming HIV&AIDS in African communities. CAP/AIDS has been hosting this event since 2005 in Toronto, Vancouver and Ottawa. Over the years, these bike-a-thons have generated more than $200,000 and have engaged more than 950 participants across the country. These funds go towards many different grassroots projects that together provide a holistic approach to overcoming HIV&AIDS in African communities. VBC Sunday Leisure Ride

We’ll average 15-20km per hour following bike routes around Vancouver, going to Iona Island or crossing to the North Shore. The ride will go 30-50 km with a coffee break somewhere in the middle. Velopalooza Tweed Ride 2013

By: Chris BruntlettTweed Rides are a worldwide phenomenon – a metropolitan ride with style! It's a celebration of old-fashioned style, cycling, and good times. It's a group bicycle ride on the seawalls, bikeways, and separated lanes of Vancouver, in which the cyclists are encouraged to dress in classic tweed or a smart looking outfit. Any effort made to recreate the spirit of a bygone era is appreciated, and all bicycles, ages, and abilities are most welcome.
